Sense of normalcy returning to Northeast Florida, with Dorian moving by

Jacksonville, FL — With Hurricane Dorian now past Northeast Florida, a sense of normalcy is returning to the area.

SCHOOL REOPENING SCHEDULE: 

---Baker County Schools will resume classes on Thursday.

---Duval County Public Schools says it plans to resume classes on Friday. Superintendent Dr. Diana Greene says Thursday will be spent clearing the schools that were used as storm shelters. All JV and varsity football games scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be rescheduled or canceled. Rescheduling information:

Atlantic Coast vs. Ed White moved to Oct. 4
Baldwin vs. Westside moved to Sept. 9
Wolfson vs. NFEI moved to Oct. 4
Sandalwood vs. Ocala -- postponed - no date set.

Fletcher vs. Terry Parker canceled
Mandarin vs. Deland canceled
First Coast vs. Heritage canceled

---St. Johns County Schools will resume regular operations on Friday.

---Nassau County Schools will reopen on Friday.

---Putnam County Schools will resume classes on Friday.

---Clay County District Schools will be open on Friday, September 6th.

UNIVERSITY/COLLEGE REOPENING SCHEDULE: 

---The University of North Florida says all of its residence halls will be reopening at 7 PM Wednesday night. The Osprey Cafe will reopen Thursday morning at 9:30 AM. All other buildings on campus will remain closed through Thursday, September 5. All classes will resume and all offices will reopen on Friday, September 6.

---Jacksonville University will remain closed through Thursday, September 5th. JU hopes to reopen the campus on Friday, though classes will be canceled that day.

---Florida State College of Jacksonville (FSCJ) says all campuses, centers, and faculty and administrative offices will be closed through Thursday, September 5th. FSCJ will reopen on Friday, September 6.

CURBSIDE GARBAGE, RECYCLING, YARD DEBRIS PICK-UP SCHEDULE: 

--- St. Johns County: Residents who normally have household garbage collections services on Wednesday and Thursday will have their garbage collected on Thursday, September 5. There will be no make-up days for recycling and yard waste collections for Wednesday or Thursday as these services will resume next week. Friday, September 6 Residents will receive their regularly scheduled household garbage, recycling, and yard debris collection services.

---Clay County: Curbside garbage, recycling and yard pick-up will run on a holiday schedule: Wednesday routes will run Thursday, Thursday routes will run Friday, Friday routes will run Saturday. All routes will return to normal on Monday, September 9. You're asked to please keep yard debris limited to a normal quantity at this time.

---Duval County: Collection schedules will shift so that Wednesday schedule will be collected Thursday, Thursday on Friday, and Friday on Saturday. Collections will return to normal schedules after Saturday.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:

---The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) will resume normal transit operations Thursday morning as scheduled, with the exception of the St. Johns River Ferry. The ferry will resume a full day of service on Friday. It was able to do a few trips Thursday evening.

TOLL COLLECTION:
---Toll collection will resume for the First Coast Expressway (SR 23) and the I-295 Express Lanes on Saturday, September 7th , at 12:01 AM.

ZOOS REOPENING: 

---The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens plans to reopen to the public at 9 a.m. Thursday for regular hours and is offering half-price admission to all guests. No coupon is required and this offer is valid on September 5th General Admission tickets only.

---The St. Augustine Alligator Farm says it hopes to reopen by Thursday at 12 PM.
