A big star is coming to Jacksonville.

Sir Paul McCartney will perform June 22 at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.

Mayor Alvin Brown made the big announcement Wednesday at the arena along with SMG Jacksonville General Manager Bill McConnell and AEG Live Senior Vice President John Valentino.

The show, named “Out  There,” is Jacksonville’s first full McCartney headline concert.

Tickets go on sale April 25 and range in price from $29.50 to $249.50.

Mayor Brown says concerts like this one are examples of the public and private partnerships that he encourages throughout the city.

“We have a great opportunity to bring someone in who everyone enjoys, not just Jacksonville, but Northeast Florida,” Mayor Brown said.

McCartney performed four songs for the 2005 Super Bowl in Jacksonville.  He also performed with the Beatles during the Gator Bowl in 1964.
