ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — 12:11 AM SUNDAY: The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office provided an update, saying “the subject is safe and has been provided the resources needed.”
Traffic has since continued as normal.

There was a heavy police presence near a Publix supermarket at Shoppes at RiverTown in St. Johns County on Saturday night for a man who police said was mentally unstable.
A witness said a man with a gun was inside a car as police were talking with him and traffic was being halted. She said police asked him to put the gun in the back seat to keep from harming himself.
Nearly a dozen patrol cars from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office were on the scene of the incident with officers diverting traffic in the area.
“This is an active but isolated incident,” a news notification by St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said. “Please stay away from the area until the scene is secured.”
