The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your help finding two people responsible for a grand theft-turned-armed robbery.
The two suspects walked in to the Publix Liquor store off Racetrack Road and filled a cart with around $750 worth of liquor, according to SJSO. When the suspect’s fled with the liquor, investigators say the clerk tried to stop them outside, but the female suspect pulled a knife after they struggled over the cart. SJSO says the clerk released the cart at that point, and the suspects got off with some of the liquor.
Because of the actions of the suspects, SJSO says this is considered an armed robbery.
One suspect is described as a black man who was wearing maroon pants, a white t-shirt, and what appeared to be Gucci slides. The other suspect is described as a black woman who is taller than the man and was wearing a black t-shirt with a gold design on the front, black yoga style pants, and sandals. She had tattoos down her right arm. SJSO says the woman may be transgender, and was wearing a lot of thick makeup, had a manly stature, and a deep voice.
The suspects fled in a dark gray four-door sedan that may be a Ford. There was no tag attached.
If you have any information about these suspects, you’re asked to contact SJSO Major Crime Detectives at 904-824-8304. You can also submit an anonymous tip and be eligible for a possible reward by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS.
