Name: John R. Crescimbeni

Occupation: City Councilman, At-Large, Group 2

Political/Government experience: City Councilman, 1991-1999, 2008-Present

Why did you decide to run for office: Having earned the reputation of being the Taxpayer's Watchdog at City Hall, and who was labeled by the Florida Times Union as "among the most aggressive protectors of tax dollars on the City Council", I want to improve the accuracy and efficiency in the operation of all Tax Collector functions by cutting waste, implementing cost-saving technologies and requiring friendly, courteous service be provided to every customer.

As a former licensed franchisee of Hickory Farms, I am the ONLY candidate with 37 years of experience providing premium customer service and managing the operations of multiple locations. Along with more than 18 years of combined service on the City Council, I am the perfect choice to oversee a staff of nearly 200 people and 10 locations

What is the biggest challenge facing the office you’re seeking, and how specifically would seek to address that:

• Lack of friendly and courteous customer service

• Excessive customer wait times

What more do you believe your office could be doing to serve the citizens of Jacksonville:  As your next Tax Collector, I will;

• Require that friendly and courteous service be provided to every customer.

• Implement more convenient hours (including Saturdays and extended weekday hours at select locations)

• Reduce customer wait times at each location

• Improve accuracy and efficiency in the operation of all Tax Collector functions

• Reduce penalties (service charges) for online debit and credit card transactions

What would be your main budget priority for the upcoming fiscal year: Securing the necessary resources to implement more convenient hours and reduce customer wait times at each location.

How do you define what you hope Jacksonville will be ten years from now: A city that is the envy of the rest of the nation, with; a thriving downtown (including 20,000 residents), thriving neighborhoods (all with modern infrastructure), high wage employment opportunities, no crime and a Lombardi trophy on display at TIAA Bank Filed!
