Jacksonville, FL — An 18-year-old man and two juveniles are facing criminal charges after a series of car burglaries at Ocean Hammock Park in St. Augustine Beach.
Police were called to the park on Thursday afternoon and given a description of a red SUV, possibly a Kia that was involved in the burglaries. The suspect vehicle was spotted on State Road 206 and police attempted to make a stop but the driver took off.
About three hours later, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office was reported about a group of people acting suspicious at the Florida Citrus Center on U.S. 1 near the I-95 interchange. When Deputies arrived on scene, two people ran off while three others remained on scene.
Police later identified the two who ran off as outstanding suspects, releasing the below surveillance photos:
Deputies located the suspect vehicle, with a stolen tag, wrecked in a nearby ditch.
The vehicle had been stolen on Tuesday from a Kia dealership in Gainesville. Inside was stolen items from the park burglaries, according to an incident report.
Deputies arrested 18-year-old Patrick Jean of Bellglade as well as two yet-to-be identified juveniles. The investigation is ongoing and St. Augustine Beach Police say additional charges are forthcoming.
