Clay County — Clay County’s Touch A Truck event will be held on Saturday, July 30, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with quiet hours from 9 am to 11 a.m. at the Clay County Fairgrounds. Lights and sirens will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Families will be able to get up close and personal with municipal, county, and state vehicles and equipment. Visitors will have hands-on access to fire trucks, ambulances, cranes, a helicopter, and much more! First responders and equipment operators will be onsite to answer questions and showcase how the vehicles are used every day in our communities.
A free kids activity zone complete with water slides, bounce houses, bungee jumping, and a rock-climbing wall and food trucks will also be on site.
Clay County’s Director of Emergency Management John Ward describes the day as a learning experience that shows off what the team of first responders has to offer.
“It’s the one time when we get evetything togther when it’s not a bad incident,” he said. “We can have all of our equipment in one place to show off to all members of our community. I put our partnerships with our resonse agencies second to none acorss the state of Florida. This really gives our citizens a chance to come out, have fun and see what our community has to offer.”
Director Ward added that the day is truly one of community collaboration.
“The School is also going to be doing build a bus to supply children and teachers in need with suuplies,” he continued. “”This event is a collaboration of partners within the community to offer everyone the opportunity to come together, learn, help each other and have a good time!”
