JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — With less than two weeks to go until the mid-term elections, the two candidates for U.S. Senate in Florida received endorsements from the tops of their respective parties.

Former President Barack Obama released a video Saturday in support of Democrat Angie Nixon and current President Donald Trump posted Thursday in favor of Republican Ashley Moody on his Truth Social platform.

“Real change starts when regular folks stand up for what’s right,” Obama said in the video posted on Nixon’s Facebook page. “That’s why I believe Angie will be an outstanding U.S. senator.”

A survey released this month by the University of North Florida showed Moody leading Nixon 49% to 45%, a slimmer margin for Moody than the 8-point advantage she held in UNF’s earlier poll this summer.

Trump’s post on Truth Social read:

“TO THE GREAT PEOPLE OF FLORIDA, MAKE A PLAN TO VOTE FOR: – Ashley Moody for U.S. Senate...”

This followed his prior formal endorsement that came around the time of a rally in Fort Myers on Friday, where he appeared alongside Moody and Byron Donalds to boost the Republican ticket.
