JACKSONVILLE, FL. — We’re continuing to turn up the heat and each day will be a little drier than the last, but not completely dry for everyone.
Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says on Wednesday the Jacksonville International Airport recorded a quarter of an inch, while the downtown area saw about two to three inches of rain with some street flooding! So rainfall amounts will continue to vary, and where it does rain we could see heavy downpours and lightning strikes.
Thursday we’ll see a few isolated showers in the morning and then widely scattered thunderstorms developing through the afternoon. High temperatures will reach into the low to mid 90s with feels-like temperatures into the triple digits.
Buresh adds that Wednesday marked our 44th, 90 degree day and we average about 82 for the year, so we still have many more to come. Water temperatures are currently around 85 or 86 degrees, the warmest water temperatures are not until August or the first part of September.
Friday will be even drier with hotter temperatures into the mid 90s and only about 20% coverage of rainfall. That continues through a hot weekend.
Luckily, it continues to be quiet in the tropics. Updates can always be found in Talking the Tropics with Mike Buresh.
