Broken tail light leads to arrest of man wanted for fatal shooting of 7-year-old

Jacksonville, FL — The final suspect wanted in connection to the fatal shooting of 7-year-old Heidy Rivas-Villanueva has now been caught.

Abrion Price was wanted for felony murder in connection to the girl’s death. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says Price was caught in Jacksonville, after he was pulled over in a vehicle with a broken tail light. JSO says Price ran, but was tracked down by a K9 unit.

JSO says Price and another man, Trevonte Phoenix, planned a robbery disguised as a gun sale, to take place in a parking lot off 103rd Street Saturday night. JSO says the intended victim had a friend nearby in another car, and after the robbery, that friend- Stanley Harris III- got out of his vehicle and started shooting. JSO says Phoenix then fired back, but the only person hit was Heidy, who was sitting in a car in the parking lot with her father.

JSO believes a bullet from Harris’ gun was the one that killed Heidy. In all, about 13 shots are believed to have been fired.

Phoenix and Price each face a charge of felony murder. Harris is being held on a weapons charge, but JSO says more charges could be coming.

This is a developing story that will be updated through out the day.
