JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It’s a pet peeve for a lot of people including Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters - littering.
So when the sheriff was driving recently and saw someone throwing trash out of their window, the blue lights went on.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released some bodycam video of Waters on the frontline of crime fighting.
Two officers arrived on the scene to assist the sheriff.
“This dude right here, man” Waters said to one of the officers as he handed him the litterbug’s drivers license. “He threw a cheeseburger wrapper out of the car ... and then he threw a McDonald’s bag out of the car.”
The officer then approached the driver to give him his citations. “You know that was the sheriff who pulled you over right?”
“Yes, sir,” the man responded.
“He doesn’t pull a lot of people over, man, so you’re unique in that regard,” the officer said.
“Don’t be trashy: littering comes with a fine ranging from $150 to more than a $1,000 with the potential for jail time,” a JSO social media post states. “Our city is beautiful, and it takes all of us working together to keep it that way.”
