Weekend warm up, stormy pattern change

JACKSONVILLE, FL. — There’s a reason it’s called “Fry-day,” according to Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh, because temperatures are HOT!

We’ll be into the mid 90s Friday afternoon with feels-like temperatures around 102 to 106 degrees. A few isolated afternoon thunderstorms are possible, but coverage will be less than a quarter of the area.

On Thursday, Jacksonville’s Westside picked up a quick inch of rain, so when it does storm there could be locally heavy downpours.

Storms Friday afternoon will be very hit-and-miss, so it will stay hot and only drop into the 70s overnight.

Then over the weekend we’ll see a pattern change with higher risk and a better chance for showers and thunderstorms.

Saturday starts dry and hot with temperatures in the low to mid 90s before the showers and thunderstorms start to develop and increase. It’ll be cooler by late afternoon but still humid.

Sunday we’ll also see scattered showers and thunderstorms at just about any part of the day, with a majority of the late afternoon showers and storms mainly inland. Temperatures won’t be quite as hot with the expected rainfall.
