Jacksonville, FL — Steamy and stormy is the pattern change we’ve been waiting weeks for, and it has finally arrived.
Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says widely scattered afternoon showers and storms will be heavy in spots.
“Where storms occur you can get a half inch to an inch of rain in one spot and about 10 to 15 minutes go a few miles and next to nothing if anything at all. And that pattern holds for this afternoon, so less than half the area likely to get rain today”, Buresh said.
Storms and heavy rain increase Friday afternoon through the weekend, and there is a possibility of some strong to severe storms.
“This is a classic setup during June to produce numerous widespread and heavy showers and thunderstorms”, Buresh said.
Temperatures will not be as hot, but humidity will be sky high. By the middle of next week we could see drier weather return.
