A surge in COVID-19 testing is coming to Florida, including Jacksonville, soon.
Assistant Secretary for Health Admiral Brett Giroir is coordinating COVID-19 diagnostic testing efforts for the White House Coronavirus Task Force told Jacksonville’s Morning News that more testing is critical.
“To try to get these young people who may be positive off the streets and in isolation so they don’t spread it”, said Admiral Giroir.
The most important test, he said, is the viral test. “Because having the antibody means that you’ve had the infection and we don’t expect more than 5 or 7% of people in Florida to have had it, maybe up to 10% depending on the surveys”, Giroir said.
