Jacksonville, FL — By the next holiday shopping season, we could see a number of retailers change their return policies.
That's as WOKV's Consumer Warrior Clark Howard says people are returning items at a rate that's never been seen before, with online purchases leading the way.
"Online purchases are being returned at 3x the rate of in-store purchases," says Howard.
Howard says it's reached such a level, there's nowhere to store all the stuff, so they're renting trailers and warehouse space to hold the returns.
He says this could very well change return policies going forward.
"Next Christmas season, will have to be different, because retailers cannot afford what they're facing," explains Howard.
Howard says this massive influx of returns could lead to some stores going out of business.
