CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — Inez Sullivan has been arrested on charges of exploiting a disabled adult after allegedly stealing more than $100,000 over a seven-year period, according to Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

The arrest is the first made by the Guardianship Task Force, a joint effort between the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Clay County Clerk of Court’s Office. Detectives with the task force began investigating the case on Aug. 17 after receiving reports regarding a ward whose bank account had been depleted by a temporary guardian.

The victim had been diagnosed with multiple health conditions that prevented independent management of personal financial assets, the sheriff’s office said. After the victim’s legal rights were restored, the individual attempted to access the funds and discovered the entire account had been drained.

An investigation revealed that Sullivan carried out financial transactions over a seven-year period. According to investigators, Sullivan transferred funds from the victim’s bank account to her personal account through wire transfers, wrote checks to herself and executed debit card transactions, according to the sheriff’s office.
