Two women face criminal charges in Orange County after four children were confined inside the cab of a semi-truck for more than six years. The victims were subjected to sexual battery, molestation and neglect during their long-term confinement.
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced the charges Tuesday against Tamra Stewart, 37, of Jacksonville and Keysha Epps, 51, of Atlanta. Authorities allege the children were kept trapped inside the vehicle cab over the multiyear period while being abused by the adults responsible for them.
Stewart and Epps face multiple criminal charges in Orange County related to the abuse and confinement, Uthmeier said.
“These children were trapped in a rolling prison and abused by the adults who were supposed to protect them,” Uthmeier said. “Florida has zero tolerance for anyone who preys on children. We will seek the maximum punishment under the law.”
