JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville-based Wounded Warrior Project has brought 50 wounded veterans from around the country to Northeast Florida for Solider Ride Jacksonville - a multiday adaptive cycling event.
Officials with the organization that provides services to wounded post-911 veterans said the Soldier Ride program showcases the healing power that cycling has on “the physical, mental and emotional health of the men and women who served in our military.”
Organizers said Soldier Ride workers can adapt a bike to provide any warrior, with any injury, the ability to cycle alongside fellow warriors.
Soldier Ride Jacksonville kicked off from Wounded Warrior Project headquarters with a celebration and ride into downtown Jacksonville on Thursday.
It will continue with a ride through Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach on Friday.
