17-year-old arrested for fatal shooting of Jacksonville teen

Jacksonville, FL — A 17-year-old has been charged with murder, in connection to the fatal shooting of a teen on Jacksonville’s far Westside.

WOKV first reported about the shooting on Watershed Drive on Friday. At the time, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was not providing much information about what had happened, including if there was criminal intent in the shooting. Police still are not releasing many details about what led up to the shooting, but they're now confirming the arrest of 17-year-old Tremayne Robinson.

JSO says they found evidence while processing the scene and received statements during their neighborhood canvass which led to Robinson as a person of interest. JSO says they were ultimately able to locate the gun that was used, even though Robinson had tried to get rid of it near the crime scene.

Robinson’s statements to police were redacated from an arrest report.  The report does say that Robinson was confronted with evidence that no one else was inside the house, and that the victim did not shoot herself.

Family of the victim has identified her as 17-year-old Alayshia Powe.

Robinson has been arrested for murder and evidence tampering.
