17-year-old attempted murder suspect arrested at First Coast High

Steven Wiggins

An attempted murder suspect has been arrested on the campus of First Coast High School.

The arrest report we’ve obtained says 17-year-old Steven Wiggins is faced with attempted second degree murder, attempted felony murder, armed robbery, and possession of a weapon or ammunition by a delinquent adult felon.

Several detectives from the JSO Gang Unit apprehended Wiggins at First Coast High Monday early afternoon, according to the arrest report. The teen was mirandized, but whatever he said to investigators has been redacted.

There are not many details available about the nature of the incident that led to the charges against Wiggins. The arrest report says this connects to an incident in the 2500 block of Beaver Street around 12:30 AM March 19. There are two listed “victims” in the report, including a teen who’s identified as a friend and a 22-year-old who is listed as a stranger.

Given the date, time, and details of the incident, this appears to correspond to when JSO responded to a man who was found by an officer lying next to a car on Beaver Street. The man suffered multiple gunshots, but not many details were immediately available, including where the shooting itself occurred.
