‘The Exorcist,’ ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Max von Sydow dies

The actor who played the priest and battled the devil in the film “The Exorcist" has died.

Max von Sydow who was 90 died Sunday, The Associated Press reported.

Von Sydow got his start in the 1949 Swedish film "Only a Mother." Throughout his career, he appeared in almost 200 films and television productions, the AP reported.

But he is best known for the role of Father Merrin in the 1973 film “The Exorcist.”

He also was the character of the Three-Eyed Raven in the HBO series “Game of Thrones,” as well as Lor San Tekka in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens," delivering the line, “This will begin to make things right” at the beginning of the final “Star Wars” trilogy.

Von Sydow was also one of a handful of actors to play James Bond villain Ernst Blofeld in "Never Say Never Again," the BBC reported.

His final role is in the upcoming film "Echoes of the Past," according to this IMDB filmography.

Von Sydow was nominated for two Oscars over his career, including one in 1998 for Pelle the Conqueror and a second for "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close", the BBC reported.
