In the show, Hasselhoff portrayed Michael Knight, who fought crime with his car partner K.I.T.T., Knight Industries Two Thousand, which was a 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, outfitted with artificial intelligence, the ability to talk and drive itself, and a number of specialized weapons. Hasselhoff took ownership of the car after the series, which ran from 1982 to 1986.

Recently, the actor put the car and an assortment of other “Hofficial” memorabilia and personal items up for auction.

The high bid on the “fully functioning K.I.T.T. car with full conversion” was $475,000 on Friday, much more than the estimated $175,000 - $300,000. Don’t expect any of its weaponry and it is not autonomously driven. However, it does have all the lights, including the flashy interior and the red ones across the front bumper.

“Lot winner responsible for delivery expense, if hammer price exceeds 25% above reserve price, the Hoff will personally deliver the car to the new owner,” according to the auction listing.

Other items in “The Hoff Auction” include signed records from the actor’s foray into music, vintage Baywatch toys and the 14-foot model of him that was used in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie.

The auction is scheduled to end Jan. 23. A portion of proceeds will go to Hasselhoff’s charitable organizations.
