Christy Turner, WFTV


Christy Turner is an award-winning journalist who has called Jacksonville home for more than five years. She received a Suncoast Regional Emmy Award in 2019 for her “Spot News” reporting on the Miracle on the St. Johns River. She was also a regional Emmy nominee in 2019 for “Continuing Coverage.” Christy joined the Action News Jax team as a reporter in May 2017. Prior to that, Christy spent two years at 104.5 WOKV in Jacksonville. After six months as a reporter at WOKV, Christy was promoted to anchor for Jacksonville’s Morning News. WOKV has been recognized by the Associated Press as the most honored radio news team in Florida. Born and raised in Orlando, Christy attended college at Northwestern University where she earned a scholarship to play Division 1 Women’s Lacrosse. Christy was named a two-time Captain for the women’s lacrosse team and helped lead her team to two national championships in 2011 and 2012. She graduated in June 2014 with a degree in Journalism. When she’s not out covering stories, Christy enjoys spending time with her loved ones, going to the beach, watching or playing sports, and working out.
