Jacksonville — Two new COVID-19 testing sites open up Thursday in Duval County where people can get tested and vaccinated, but that means another site is shutting down.
In all, five new testing sites will be operational in Duval County this week after the Jacksonville City Council approved $4 million dollars to get them up and running.
Two of the sites opened Monday and the third opened Wednesday.
The Florida Department of Health in Duval County is operating the sites opening for the first time Thursday at the Emmett Reed Community Center at 1093 West Sixth St. and at the Cuba Hunter Community Center at 4380 Bedford Rd. Those sites will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
But because those are now available, the walk-up testing and vaccination site run by the Health Department at 515 W. Sixth St. will no longer be serving the community.
