If you’re looking for a job, you might want to consider the healthcare field. 200 new jobs are coming to Jacksonville through a Medicare administration contract won by Florida Blue subsidiary Novitas Solutions Inc, making it the largest provider of Medicare services to the federal government.
"And that business is centered right here in Jacksonville and we are extremely proud of that," said Novitas chairman Steve Booma. "We're confident that we'll find top notch talent here."
Joining Booma were Florida Blue CEO Pat Gerarghty and Mayor Alvin Brown who said he always loves to see local companies expand.
"It's a sector that supplies good-paying, career-driven jobs to roughly one fifth of our workforce," Brown said.
The jobs will pay between $40,000 and $60,000 a year. Novitas has already started accepting applications and they hope to finish the hiring process by mid-July. Before being awarded the contract, Novitas was the Medicare Administrative Contractor for Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. The new contract gives the company jurisdiction over Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Colordao, New Mexico, and Texas.
Booma says Novitas will be present at Congresswoman Corrine Brown's annual job fair on Monday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Prime Osborn Convention Center in downtown.
