Arrest made in connection with December shooting death of a 13-year-old boy in Jacksonville

Jacksonville FL — On Monday, Jacksonville Sheriff TK Waters announced the arrest of a man in connection with the shooting death of 13-year-old Prince Holland. Sheriff Waters says Marcel Johnson is charged with second-degree murder, four counts of attempted second-degree murder, and one count of shooting or throwing deadly missiles.

Back on December 3rd, 2022, JSO says Holland was with a group of people leaving a football tryout at the Legends Center when the SUV they were in was shot multiple times on West Moncrief and New Kings roads.

Waters says the shooting was the culmination of violence between two rival street groups.

“It was targeted, planned, and it was horrendous”. Waters says.

As he did back in December shortly after the shooting happened, Waters is vowing to go after those who are responsible.

“This agency and this city will not passively standby while a subculture that glorifies violence terrorizes our community”. Waters says.

Waters says Johnson is not the only one who investigators believe committed these crimes, but citing the nature of the investigation, Waters did not disclose how many other people police are looking for.

Police are urging you to come forward if you know anyone that may be connected to this deadly shooting. You can contact JSO at 904-630-0500 or you can email JSOCrimeTips@jaxsheriff.org.

JSO says the potential reward money in this case stands at $10,000. You can contact Crimestoppers and remain anonymous by calling 1-866-845-TIPS.
