A coroner says the Presbyterian College football player and St. Augustine native found dead in a frat house over the weekend died of accidental alcohol poisoning.
21-year-old Kyle Allen was found unconscious early Sunday at the Presbyterian College. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Allen's former coach at Pedro Menendez High School tells our news partner Channel 4 that Allen was one of the best football players he's ever coached.
"Off the field he was an even better person, better student, better son, and just somebody I loved," says Keith Cromwell.
Allen was a linebacker on the Presbyterian College Blue Hose football team. He had just transferred from Georgia Southern.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later this week.
