An armed robbery investigation in St. Augustine has led to the arrest of a man suspected of multiple crimes.
The St. Augustine Police Department says they responded Tuesday night to an armed robbery around Washington Street. A bike officer saw two black men matching the suspect description, and those men were taken in to custody.
33-year-old Christopher Sharon Washington has been identified as a suspect in the Tuesday night incident, as well as an armed robbery the night before. Police say victims in both cases positively identified him.
The armed robbery from St. George Street and Hypolita Street Monday night, involved Washington allegedly forcing a man to go to an ATM when that victim told Washington he wasn’t carrying any cash. The arrest report says Washington had the victim withdraw $100, and then also asked him for a cigarette before fleeing that scene.
On Tuesday night, the arrest report says Washington unlawfully entered a home and robbed the man inside while pointing a gun at him. The arrest report says the victim believed “violence was imminent”.
The second man who was initially detained for questioning was released without charges.
