An elderly man in Nassau County had too many Dalmatians to take care of on his own, so Nassau County Animal Services had to step in.
NCAS Director Timothy Maguire tells our partner Action News Jax they found about 25 Dalmatians on the property after getting a tip that dogs were running around in Yulee.
"[He's] an elderly man in poor health, and we're just trying to help the dogs." he says. "We've taken in about 19 of them so far.
Maguire says the man was just trying to rescue the dogs himself, and his passion for Dalmatians got away from him.
When they arrived at the property, they found one dog that was blind and another with an injured. Maguire says they also found one that was already dead. Now most of the dogs are headed to a rescue facility in Miami.
Maguire says it was really an attempt by the old man to rescue all the dogs, and Maguire couldn't comment on whether or not he faces any charges.
