Bank robber denied by teller on Edgewood

Edgewood Wells Fargo attempted robbery suspect

A would-be bank robber, turned away by the teller.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was called to the Wells Fargo at 1336 W. Edgewood Avenue late Monday morning for a robbery. We’re told the suspect came in and demanded money from the teller, but the teller instead told the suspect to fill out a withdrawal slip.  The suspect then fled on foot without any money.

At no point did the suspect display any weapon or make any threat.  He’s described as a black male, 40-45 years old, 160 lbs, 6’2”, wearing a green hooded jacket and sunglasses.

Just a short time later, JSO responded to another bank robbery- this time at a Wells Fargo at 3650 Philips Highway. Investigators say the suspect description is very similar, but they’re being treated as separate investigations at this time.

In this case, the bank employee complied with the suspect’s demands, and the suspect again fled on foot. The suspect in this case is described as a black male, 6’1”, 180 lbs, wearing a black skull cap, black sunglasses, a green hooded jacket, and dark colored pants and shoes.

If you have any information about these incidents, you're asked to contact JSO at 904-630-0500 or JSOCrimeTips@jaxsheriff.org. You can also submit an anonymous tip and be eligible for a potential $3,000 reward by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
