About 60,000 fans are expected to flock to EverBank Field for Saturday’s TaxSlayer Bowl.
It’s one of the best crowds the game has seen in the past few years, according to organizers, with tickets selling more rapidly now than at this point last year.
TaxSlayer Bowl President/CEO Rick Catlett says Penn State fans are coming in surprisingly strong numbers.
“What has really impressed us is how many Penn State fans live in Atlanta and Orlando and Tampa,” he says.
Catlett says Georgia tickets have been moving too, although the coaching shake-up has led to those being a little off what they were expecting.
As for what fans can expect, EverBank Field will be entirely open as for any Jaguars game, and fans have been snapping up the premium seating options.
“The Terrace Suite is sold out, pools are sold out, we privatized the Bud Zone and sold that out,” Catlett says.
One of the pools was actually opened to individual ticket sales this year, instead of just for large groups and businesses.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office recommends you arrive early for the noon kickoff. They're asking you to keep your parking passes visible and use the bridge closest to where you intend to park. There are no scheduled bridge closures, and in fact the Florida Department of Transportation has paused all major projects in that area through the weekend.
The Jacksonville Transportation Authority is also offering a stadium shuttle and will be running the Skyway.
There will be a heavy security presence for the game. The rules at the stadium are different from NFL games- everyone will be scanned with a security wand and no food or drink is allowed in. You can bring in a bag measuring under 12x12x12.
