The body of a missing University of North Florida student was found Saturday morning on the Southside.
George Louissaint Jr., 20, was found floating in a retention pond by a passerby on Kernan Blvd.
"It's been a long week. We were hoping for a different outcome," said UNF Police Chief Frank Mackesy.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation. Dive teams recovered the body from the pond.
JSO said the physical characteristics and clothing all appear to match the description of Louissaint Jr. His family was notified.
Investigators said there is no indication of foul play and no obvious trauma to the body. The case remains under investigation.
An autopsy will be done to determine the exact cause of death. Police said results will be available next week.
Grief counselors will be available for students on campus.
