Jacksonville FL — Tuesday night both representatives John Rutherford and Al Lawson won reelection in their races for Congress. Republican Congressman Rutherford defeated Democratic challenger Donna Deegan in a district that covers most of Duval and St. Johns counties and all of Nassau County. Rutherford on Twitter thanked the people of Northeast Florida.
Thank you to the wonderful people of Northeast Florida for entrusting me to serve you for another term in Congress. Together, we will continue to RESTORE our American way of life, REBUILD the greatest American economy ever, and RENEW the American Dream. #Grateful

Rutherford will get a third term in Congress. He says he’s focused on getting the economy back on track.
“We’re gonna do that by opening back up all across the country in a safe and healthy way.” Rutherford says.
Meanwhile Deegan says she will continue fighting for better health care and is hopeful Representative Rutherford listens to the voices of those she says have felt voiceless. She says she’s not sure what’s next for her politically.
In Florida’s 5th Congressional District, which stretches from Jacksonville all the way to Tallahassee, Democrat Al Lawson won reelection, defeating Republican Gary Adler. Lawson will get a third term in Congress.
Thank you. Happy to be going back to Washington, DC to represent Florida’s 5th Congressional District. https://t.co/aJQQUnoht7

Only in the United States of America would I be able to go from being homeless to the U.S. House of Representatives in 10 years, and I will always fight for Florida's families the same way I would my own.#fl03 #flapolhttps://t.co/IBsr6KOOQF pic.twitter.com/EOTzmlCRei
