The city of Jacksonville is hosting a job fair this morning at the convention center downtown for veterans and their families.
Vic Guillory, the director of military and veterans affairs for the city of Jacksonville says he's hoping to close the gap between veterans and the unemployment rate.
"The unemployment rate for veterans is getting better but we're not there yet."
Guillory tells WOKV veterans have a wide array of skills that translate well into the civilian job force.
"Team building skills, ability to work in stressful situations, ability to understand instructions and get the job done with the resources they have available."
The job fair will be held Monday morning at the Prime Osborn Convention center downtown from 11 A.M. to 3 P.M. It's also open to the family members and spouses of veterans.
