City of Jacksonville employee terminated for working side jobs on the clock

It all started with an anonymous complaint.

Now a City of Jacksonville employee is fired for doing side work while on the city's dime.

Charzetta Spencer will have the right to appeal her termination, according to a report we've received from the Office of Inspector General.

That report shows Spencer admitted to sending over 325 emails from her city-owned work account between 2011 to 2016.

Investigators say all those emails were really for work she was doing for up to four other side jobs, including selling cosmetics and health and wellness products.

Spencer - who worked as a Financial Analyst in the city's Neighborhoods department - also admitted to investigators that she never reported those side jobs to the city until OIG began investigating her.

A city spokeswoman confirms that Spencer - who was working as a financial analyst in the Neighborhoods department - has been terminated pending a civil service hearing.
