JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Mayor Lenny Curry says that the annual firework show for the Fourth of July will go on.

Instead of being only downtown, the City of Jacksonville plans on lighting fireworks throughout Jacksonville. Those additional locations are still being chosen.

The additional sites will help with social distancing and the goal is for people to not all come downtown.

On Monday, Jacksonville Beach City Commissioner Corey Nichols announced that the Fourth of July fireworks show in Jacksonville Beach will not happen.

Governor Ron DeSantis announced Wednesday that Florida will be moving into Phase 2 of reopening starting Friday. That means that bars, movie theaters, bowling alleys, and other entertainment establishments can reopen at fifty percent.
