The City of Jacksonville is upgrading the Riverwalk on the Southbank of the St. Johns River.
New sidewalks will make it more bicycle and pedestrian friendly, and their are also plans to add $328,000 in directory signs to make it easier to get around.
"This is the River City," says Tony LaMon, who uses the Riverwalk. "We need to really support it and clean it and just keep it beautiful."
People walking or biking through the area will notice a new mural painted on a public restroom. The City says the interior will also be upgraded.
There will be a new feature for people approaching the area from the water: a new floating kayak dock is in the plans.
Construction is expected to start this year. The project comes with a price tag of about $450,000.
