LAKESIDE, Fla. — A reported collision between one Clay County Fire Rescue unit and another vehicle has resulted in multiple injuries on Knight Boxx and Old Jennings Sunday afternoon.

Based on the crash report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a Clay County Ambulance was driving in a northerly direction on Knight Boxx Rd. with its lights and sirens on transporting a patient in critical condition to a nearby hospital, while an SUV was headed in an easterly direction on Old Jennings Rd.
Reportedly the Clay County ambulance disregarded the red light and entered the intersection, while the SUV had the correct of way and continued through the intersection on a green light. Unfortunately, the front of the ambulance collided with the right side of the SUV, resulting in a tragic accident.
The impact of the collision caused the Clay County ambulance to veer off course and collide with a signal light pole located on the northeast corner of the intersection.
The Clay County ambulance came to a final rest at that location, facing northeast. At the same time, the SUV came to a stop on the grassy area at the northeast corner of the intersection, facing east.
As a result of the crash, several individuals, including 3 firefighters from the rescue unit and one from the SUV, were injured and transported to HCS Florida for medical treatment.
Due to the severity of the accident and the ongoing investigation, the area around Knight Boxx Rd. and Old Jennings Rd was closed to traffic for several hours.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident to understand the factors that led to the collision and to determine any potential liability.
