A 7-month-old child who was in the bathtub with his mother died in an apparent drowning after his mother fell asleep.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says Jennifer Renee Wroubel got in the tub when her son wouldn’t stop crying. The child was given a bath, and the two played together for about 15 minutes until Wroubel fell asleep. When she woke up, the child was floating in the water.
Wroubel called 9-1-1 and tried to conduct CPR. The child was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Clay County where he was pronounced dead just after 9 p.m.
The child’s exact and final cause of death will not be determined until after the Medical Examiner report is released.
