The former IRS official accused of leading a targeting effort of conservatives is facing a contempt citation.
"The American people deserve protection from government agencies that overstep their bounds."
Republican Congressman Ron DeSantis says he voted in favor of holding Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress because of her refusal to cooperate with investigations about her role in the targeting of conservative groups.
"She tried to pull a stunt. She made 17 different factual statements trying to declare herself innocent. She wanted to tell her side of the story but then not let the members of the committee question her. You can't have it both ways."
He tells WOKV the next step begins with the Justice Department bringing the contempt citation before a federal grand jury.
"We could be looking at a potential grand jury indictment."
DeSantis says he also voted in favor of establishing a special prosecutor to investigate the IRS scandal.
