Craigslist sting, 17 men arrested

17 men were arrested as a result of a sting operation.  The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office conducted, "Operation Sheepdog" from April 27 to May 1.

These men range in age from 20-55 years old.

What they tried to do was meet up with children between the ages of 8 and 15 through Craigslist.  They were actually undercover detectives posing as kids and even as parents.  These men kept talking to them and eventually wanted to meet up at a house.  Detectives set up a home for them to come to and arrested them there.

Some of the men showed up to the house with condoms, lubrication, one man had three cucumbers and others brought candy.

None of these men were registered sex offenders or predators.  One of them was a middle school teacher, two were in the military, one was an optician, there was cook, a janitor, a bank teller and a civil engineer.

These men are now facing 60 felony charges.
