Florida Highway Patrol says a portion of the scrap metal inside the truck hit the underside of the overpass, causing debris to fall on the road. At least one car hit the debris.
FHP says the driver of the truck failed to safely negotiate a curve onto the on ramp to SB I-95, causing the truck to overturn and spill debris all over southbound lanes of the highway.
Two additional vehicles were unable to avoid hitting the debris. The drivers of those vehicles were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
The truck driver, who is from Lake City was cited for careless driving.
