Jacksonville, FL — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash in the Ortega area involving a school bus and a CSX train on U.S. 17 at Timuquana Road.
JSO says there were no children on board the bus at the time of the crash. Investigators say the bus did not run into a moving train. The train was traveling when it hit the rear of a school that had partially crossed the tracks.
According to CSX, two people were onboard the train a conductor and engineer which the company says is normal. The two individuals were not injured in the crash. CSX also says they were told by JSO that there were two people on board the bus at the time of the crash with one of them being taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
CSX confirms the lights, bells and gates at the crossing were working properly at the time of the crash.
