Jacksonville, FL — The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is asking the community for help identifying two men they believe may have information about a reported gunfire incident.
According to deputies, they were called Monday night to the Whispering Pines Apartments in St. Augustine about reported gunfire coming from the basketball courts. Around that same time, deputies say a resident called to report a man frantically banging on his door, claiming someone was attempting to shoot him.
However, when deputies arrived, they say there was no sign that any shooting had occurred.
During their search of the area, deputies arrested a resident on drug-related charges, after finding them to be in possession of marijuana and a white powdery substance, among other items. At this point, deputies haven't connected this resident to the the reported gunfire.
Deputies say a different resident gave them a photo they say shows two of three men, all described as black males, leaving the basketball court area around the same time shots were heard.
Deputies say it's not clear yet if the men are involved, but they're hoping to speak with them.
If you have any information on who these men are, you're urged to call the sheriff's office at (904) 824-8304.
