FHP: Driver who hit, killed 40-year-old man runs away after crash on Beaver Street

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — One person is dead after a crash Tuesday morning at the intersection of Beaver Street and Cahoon Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Authorities said a driver in a pickup truck was traveling northbound on Cahoon Road approaching Beaver Street when they hit another driver in a Sedan who was traveling east on Beaver Street approaching the intersection at Cahoon Road.

The collision caused both vehicles to travel to the northeast corner of the intersection, according to the FHP.

Officials said the driver of the pickup truck ran away from the scene immediately after the crash.

A 40-year-old Jacksonville man died in the crash, troopers said.

The crash shut down all lanes on Beaver Street at Cahoon Road. Lanes have since been reopened.

Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call them at 904-301-3700 or *FHP.
