Jacksonville City Council approves $2B budget ordinance in 18-1 vote

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville City Council passed Mayor Donna Deegan’s $2 billion budget in an 18-1 vote on Tuesday night.

Councilman Rory Diamond was the only no vote that was cast.

The ordinance establishes the city’s consolidated government budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year and appropriates funding for city operations and programs.

The legislation also establishes funding for capital projects, city staffing, grants, information technology projects and debt management. It includes budgets for several entities, including the Jacksonville Aviation Authority and Jacksonville Port Authority.

The budget legislation was introduced July 28 at the request of the mayor. City Council tentatively approved a substitute version of the ordinance in a 16-1 vote on Sept. 8 before giving it final approval Tuesday.
