Jacksonville woman killed, child seriously hurt after crash on I-10

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville woman is dead and a young child is hurt after a crash early Thursday morning on I-10, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say just before 1:30 a.m., a black car was traveling on the I-295 northbound exit ramp to I-10 East when it drove into the median, hit a concrete pole, and came to a stop in the center eastbound lane of I-10.

A tan-colored car that was traveling eastbound on I-10 ran into the black car, which caused “heavy damage” to both cars, FHP said.

The driver of the black car, a 37-year-old Jacksonville woman, was killed in the crash. Authorities said the 7-year-old passenger of the car was seriously hurt.

The other driver, a 34-year-old Jacksonville man, was also seriously hurt in the crash. Troopers say that he was wearing a seat belt.

It’s unknown if the woman and child were wearing a seat belt.
