Retailers are thinking outside the box to keep Black Friday shoppers safe

JACKSONVILLE,Fla. — Jaffi’s in Neptune Beach is no stranger to the crowds Black Friday usually brings.

“It’s a madhouse but it’s fun they are typically wall-to-wall people,” explains Emilie Christenson, owner of Jaffi’s Boutique.

But this year, due to the pandemic places like Jaffi’s have had to reimagine what Black Friday looks like.

“Instead of a staggered sale which encourages tons of people to come all at the same time we’re going to have a sale that lasts the whole weekend,” explains Christenson.

Even big-box stores like Best Buy and Target are spreading out their deals to help try and reduce crowds at their brick-and-mortar stores.

At Jaffi’s, they’ve crafted their deals around safety.

“We are going to require that all customers wear masks will even have someone take temperatures out front and we will be limiting capacity.”

They will also be ramping up their cleaning protocols.

So this year, there is no need to rush, especially when it comes to shopping local because Small Business Saturday is the next day.

“Don’t rush take your time it’s a weird year everything is going to be fine and have fun this is what this is all about.”
