JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On Tuesday, Tommy Hazouri Jr., son of city councilman and former Jacksonville mayor, Tommy Hazouri, pleaded guilty to one count of distributing child pornography.
Hazouri Jr. was arrested on state child porn charges on Aug. 19, 2020, then again on federal charges while on home detention for his state arrest.
Tuesday’s guilty plea was in federal court.
Hazouri Jr. was employed with Duval County Public schools as a second-grade teacher at the time of his arrest and had served in multiple positions within the school district dating back to 2003.
Tuesday’s guilty plea was for knowingly distributing child pornography, specifically four photos to a group chat with 46 participants, on a social media app called the “App”. Hazouri Jr. now faces a minimum of five years to a maximum of 20 years in prison.
His sentencing date has yet to be determined.
