JSO: RESIDENT INTENTIONALLY SETS FIRE TO APARTMENT

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE March 15: Action News Jax received the arrest report for the woman who set fire to the Jacksonville Heights Apartments on Sunday.

The woman has been identified as Tyler Elizabeth Allen. The report states that Allen told police she had not been taking proper medication and she saw a demon. Allen also had paperwork that said she missed her psych appointment the previous month.

Allen was transported to the hospital while she was absentee booked into the Pre-trial Detention Facility for arson of any dwelling or its contents.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, together with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, responded to a fire at the Jacksonville Heights Apartments Sunday night.

Officials with both agencies said a woman deliberately set fire to her apartment unit. However, it is still unclear why she did so.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She was later charged with arson.

The fire caused significant damage to the property and displaced approximately two dozen individuals. The Florida State Fire Marshal and the American Red Cross arrived on the scene to assist the displaced individuals.

JFRD said 30 people are receiving help from the Red Cross.

There were no other reported injuries.
